GTSI Wins Contract For Ruggedized Notebooks

GTSI Corp., Chantilly Va., has won a three-year blanket purchase agreement worth up to $28 million to supply the Marine Corps with ruggedized notebook computers, the company announced Sept. 11.

Under this new contract, GTSI will deliver Panasonic "ToughBook" ruggedized notebooks and accessories. GTSI will work with the Marines and Panasonic to customize the physical appearance of some units and enhance Panasonic warranty support for field deployments.

"With GTSI's specialized support, Panasonic ToughBooks are a perfect fit for our armed forces. Other military and law enforcement customers are using them on an enterprise-wide basis and we are pleased that the Marine Corps will now be deploying them as well," said Joel Lipkin, GTSI's senior vice president of marketing and customer support.

GTSI offers a line of over 250,000 products from more than 1,300 manufacturers, as well as multiple integration services. The company generated a net income of $10.6 million in 2000.
