Covansys Corp. has won a $14.5 million contract to implement a new pension administration system for the Public Employees Retirement Board of Nebraska, the company announced Sept. 11.

Covansys of Farmington Hills, Mich., will replace the existing mainframe system and design with a modern pension administration system driven by its proprietary Clarety Framework Solution.
The project, which will be implemented in four phases, is scheduled for completion in May 2004.

The system will encompass six public pension plans under the administration of the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement System and will serve 57,000 active members and 10,500 benefit recipients.

The system will provide integrated workflow and office automation capabilities to improve the speed and accuracy of business processing and allow the retirement system staff to increase its productivity.

Specifically, the Web-based system is designed to improve records management and reporting capabilities, enhance customer service, improve data quality, reduce processing times for requested services and improve work tracking and process management.

In addition to Nebraska, Convansys' solution supports state pension and retirement systems in Indiana, Mississippi, Nevada and Rhode Island.

Covansys is a technology services company specializing in Web-to-enterprise integration, industry specific solutions and strategic outsourcing. The company has more than 5,100 employees and annual revenue of $420 million.
