Client Network Services Inc. signed a$172 million contract for information technology services with the National Nuclear Security Administration, and a $15 million deal from Maine to develop an e-government program.

Client Network Services Inc. signed Aug. 16 a five-year, $172 million contract to provide information technology services to the National Nuclear Security Administration, a division of the Energy Department.

CNSI will provide support services including IT policy, planning and support; systems development engineering and operations; telecommunications engineering; computer security; network administration; IT training; records management; and a customer support center.

The work will be carried out in Las Vegas, Albuquerque and Carlsbad, N.M., Oak Ridge, Tenn., and the Washington area.

"I think every company aspires to be the recipient of a contract like this. It has the capacity to change the whole dynamic of the company," said Bob Kornhauser, CNSI's vice president of business development.

In early August, CNSI of Gaithersburg, Md., also won a $15 million contract from Maine to develop an Oracle-based, e-government program for claims management.

"This is all new work," Kornhauser said. "It's being developed by programmers in-house and onsite."

CNSI joined the federal 8(a) program in 1998. It teamed with a graduate of the 8(a) program, NCI Information Systems Inc. of McLean, Va., on the National Nuclear Security Administration contract.

The company had revenue of $14.5 million in 1999 and is expecting revenue of $45 million to $50 million in 2001, Kornhauser said. Prospects for 2002 are even brighter with the new contracts, he said. The company projects revenue in excess of $75 million in 2002.
