Delaware Taps ACS for Data Warehouse

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won an $8.3 million contract to provide the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services with an enterprise data warehouse and decision support system, the company announced Aug. 20.

ACS of Dallas will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing a system that will provide the framework for decision support, comparative analysis and tracking and reporting for Medicaid and related programs in Delaware.

The system will allow the state to access and manipulate information in support of program planning, policy development and program assessment, ACS said.

A data warehouse is a repository of information organized in a format suitable for querying, reporting and analysis.

The integration of Medicaid and other data across the department's programs will eliminate gaps and overlaps in service delivery, and enable department employees to convert data into information, said Alfred Tambe, Delaware Department of Health and Social Services' enterprise manager.

ACS has more than 20,000 employees and had sales of about $2.1 billion in 2001.
