Accenture Picks Up Procurement Software Firm

Accenture Ltd. has acquired Epylon Corp., a supplier of electronic procurement solutions for government and education.

Accenture Ltd. has acquired San Francisco-based Epylon Corp., a supplier of electronic procurement solutions for government and education, the company announced Aug. 16.

The acquisition was completed shortly before Accenture's initial public offering July 19. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Epylon will become an Accenture affiliate company, which means the parent company will have 100 percent ownership and complete control, according to Accenture. Previously, Accenture had taken a minority position in Epylon.

Epylon's senior management and all its employees were offered continued employment, Accenture said. The company will continue to operate under the name Epylon, and Accenture partner Jay Mohr will become the acting chief executive.

Epylon will provide Accenture clients with the software necessary to enable their purchasing programs, Mohr said.

Epylon has about 160 employees and annual revenue of $4 million. Accenture, with government headquarters in Reston, Va., has more than 75,000 employees worldwide and annual revenue of $9.75 billion.
