FedBizOpps.gov to Host All Federal Procurement Notices

Find opportunities — and win them.

Federal agencies must begin posting all government business opportunities worth more than $25,000 on the FedBizOpps.gov Web site by Oct. 1, a federal procurement council said May 16.

Federal agencies must begin posting all government business opportunities worth more than $25,000 on the FedBizOpps.gov Web site by Oct. 1, a federal procurement council said May 16.

Under an interim rule published in the Federal Register, all procurement notices currently published in the paper Commerce Business Daily must be posted on FedBizOpps by Oct. 1, including subcontracting opportunities.

Agencies must continue to send procurement notices to Commerce Business Daily until Jan. 1, 2002. After that, FedBizOpps will be the only mandatory site for posting notices.

The rule was issued by the Federal Acquisition Regulation Council, which oversees government procurement.

The rule allows vendors to advertise subcontracting opportunities on the site and permits agencies to publish information that helps potential vendors understand how they can best meet the government's needs.

The rule fulfills requirements of the Defense Authorization acts of 1998 and 2001. The first requires the designation of a single point of electronic access to government procurement activities; the second allows agencies to post notices through that electronic access point instead of the Commerce Business Daily.

Agencies can submit comments on the interim rule until July 16 to the General Services Administration FAR Secretariat.
