CSC Wins $38 Million DFAS Contract
Computer Sciences Corp. won a contract with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service to modernize accounting systems that support the U.S. Army's wholesale logistics, depot maintenance and munitions operations. CSC's supply chain solutions program office for the Wholesale Logistics Modernization Program will lead the effort. CSC's team includes IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.; KPMG LLP, Washington, D.C.; GRC International Inc., Vienna, Va. (a subsidiary of AT&T Corp.); Metters Industries Inc., McLean, Va.; and Signal Corp., Fairfax, Va.
CSC won the 10-year, $680 million Army wholesale logistics modernization contract in 1999 to reengineer and modernize the Army's wholesale logistics business processes by applying commercial business practices and associated technologies, according to the company. The DFAS contract will make accounting services compatible with the other Army logistics functions being modernized by CSC.
Under the DFAS agreement, CSC will act as an applications service provider, replacing aging hardware and software used to track funding for wholesale logistics, depot maintenance and munitions operations.
DFAS' current systems will continue to operate until the modernization effort is completed and the systems are updated or replaced.
