Adaytum Inc. has forged separate alliances with Accenture Ltd. and the Government Finance Officers Association to create a public-sector version of its integrated financial planning solution, the Minneapolis-based company said April 30.

Adaytum is adapting a Web-based budgeting and planning solution that would respond to the unique requirements of the state and local sector.

The new solution is based on Adaytum's e.Planning product, a proprietary solution used by more than 1,200 private-sector organizations worldwide.

The target market for the solution includes states, cities, counties, school districts, special districts and municipal enterprises, such as utilities and airports, said Adaytum.

The software would assist government financial officers with budgeting and financial planning efforts, which are often the Achilles' heels of enterprise resource management systems, said Rowan Miranda, director of research and consulting for GFOA.

Accenture of Hamilton, Bermuda, will help Adaytum understand the processes, rules, regulations and statutory requirements for planning, forecasting and budgeting in public-sector organizations.

The Government Finance Officers Association of Philadelphia will help Adaytum shape best budgeting practices in state and local government, provide development expertise and collect input from its government members.

Accenture has more than 70,000 employees and had sales of $9.7 billion in fiscal 2000. Adaytum had more than 300 employees and sales of $37 million in fiscal 2000.

GFOA represents more than 15,000 state, provincial and local finance professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
