SAIC Wins $70 Million Military Health Contract

A team led by Science Applications International Corp. of San Diego has won a contract to continue providing sustainment services to all Defense Department military health system medical facilities worldwide.


The contract, known as MHS Sustainment, provides site operations support, upgrades and maintenance for the Composite Health Care System and numerous other clinical automated information systems at 140 military treatment facilities around the world. The contract is valued at more than $70 million over the next two and a half years.


"With this contract win, SAIC will continue to provide key support to all our men and women in uniform through our sustainment activities at each and every military treatment facility around the globe," said John Warner, corporate executive vice president and board member.

"Providing top quality, efficient service, while maintaining extremely high customer satisfaction levels has been our goal for the past decade. We will not only continue to meet our customer's current levels of satisfaction, but we will work even harder to surpass their high expectations," he said.


SAIC began performing clinical sustainment automation services with the first CHCS contract in 1988. The program was fully deployed to all 526 military treatment facilities by 1995.

It serves more than eight million beneficiaries and 131,000 MHS personnel, handling 51 million outpatient visits and 793,000 inpatient admissions each year.
