EDS Hauls In Three Governments' Contracts

NOV. 15 ? Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Plano, Texas, has won three governments contracts worth a total of more than $900 million.


The largest of the awards is a $713 million contract expansion with the United Kingdom government's employment service.


The project modernizing information systems that serve prospective employers, job seekers and the national service that connects them involves installing 9,000 touch-screen kiosks throughout the U.K. and replacing about 30,000 personal computers in job centers with PCs equipped with Windows NT.


EDS also won an eight-year, $92 million contract with the state of Colorado to develop, implement and operate a Web-enabled system to manage the state's eligibility determination for human services and health-care programs.


The state of Oklahoma also awarded the company a seven-year, $102 million contract for a Medicaid Management Information System. EDS will replace the Oklahoma Health Care Authority's legacy MMIS with a newly developed Web-based interface.


More than 400,000 Oklahoma residents receive services from about 22,000 health-care providers that participate in the state's Medicaid program.


In its commercial business, EDS won a four-year contract to provide Web hosting for General Motors' business-to-business and business-to-employee programs worldwide. The automaker is converting its more than 30,000 suppliers worldwide entirely to Web-based e-business.


The announcement comes about a month after EDS won a $6 billion, five-year contract to build and run the much-anticipated Navy/Marine Corps Intranet project.
