Orbital Sciences Tech Unit Wins GSA Contract

SEPT. 26 ? Orbital Sciences Corp.'s Technical Services Division won a contract Sept. 25 from the General Services Administration, becoming part of the GSA schedule to provide mechanical and electrical engineering services to government agencies.
The $20 million, five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract includes an option for a second five-year term.
"As part of the GSA's Professional Engineering Services Schedule, Orbital's technical services will now be readily available to a wider range of government agencies than ever before," said Richard Hicks, vice president of Orbital TSD.
Orbital hopes the contract will increase business opportunities and the company's engineering services work with NASA and the Defense Department, Hicks said.
The contract will allow TSD to compete for additional professional engineering services, such as strategic planning; concept definition and requirements analysis; system design; engineering and integration; and test and evaluation.
Orbital TSD provides technical and management support services to government agencies by supplying engineers, scientists, technicians and other professionals to work with a customer's technical staff. It focuses on aerospace and engineering functions at the system and design levels.
Orbital TSD, located in Greenbelt, Md., saw annual
revenue increase from $30 million in 1995 to $70 million in 1999. Orbital had 1999 revenue of $915 million. The company, headquartered in Dulles, Va., employs more than 5,000 people.
