CSC to Keep Transportation Department's Volpe Center Moving

SEPT. 26 ? Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif., won a contract to provide the Transportation Department's John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center with onsite technical support services.
The two-year contract has three one-year options and is worth $190.5 million if all options are exercised, the company announced Sept. 25. The staff of the Volpe Center, located in Cambridge, Mass., works toward technical, operational and management advances in transportation.
"The Volpe Center provides an essential link between the technology and transportation communities. CSC is pleased to be a trusted technology innovation partner in support of the Volpe mission," said Stephen Kalish, president of CSC's Civil Group.
CSC's Civil Group, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., will provide services such as technology assessments; architectural design; software development, testing and integration; and system operational support for both transportation and logistics management information systems.
The award also has an option for CSC to provide operations research and analysis support services, which includes the assessment of transportation systems with a focus on improving efficiency.
