CSC Signals Push for Transportation Dept. Business

AUG. 10 ? Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif., has promoted longtime employee Harry Part to vice president of transportation systems, tasking him with growing CSC's business with the Transportation Department, the company said.


Part will report to Stephen Kalish, president of the civil group, which is headquartered in Falls Church, Va.


CSC's Transportation Services Center has about 450 employees and more than 250 contractors.


"The center's primary opportunities for growth will be in continued modernization of the Federal Aviation Administration's information technology infrastructure," CSC spokesman Mike Dickerson said. "Its most promising secondary opportunities are with the Postal Service, Department of Transportation and Coast Guard."


CSC is the chief IT services provider for the FAA in developing and maintaining the nation's air traffic control and air management systems. The Transportation Systems Center also has major contracts with Coast Guard, the Transportation Department's Volpe National Transportation Systems Center and NASA's Advanced Air Transportation Technology Program.


Part, who joined CSC in 1974, brings more than 25 years of management and technical experience to his new position. Most recently, he led the win of CSC's $329 million contract award from the FAA to support its Enroute Automation and Free Flight Program.
