EdgeMark Systems Inc., Silver Spring, Md., has entered into a partnership with Network Appliance Inc., to provide a host of Network Appliance's data storage and access products to federal Unix and Windows NT users. EdgeMark will offer a full line of Network Appliance products, including file servers that reduce the cost and complexity of enterprise data management by consolidating data into centralized locations.

Under the pact, the employee-owned reseller and software services provider will also offer Network Appliance's Internet caching solutions, or NetCache appliances, to federal customers. These appliances move frequently viewed Web content close to the user, resulting in faster Web response time and reduced network traffic.

6-year-old company that has been rapidly expanding partnerships in the past year.Deltek Systems Inc., McLean, Va., has released a financial accounting solution that has been designed for small to midsize government contractors.

The solution features built-in compliance with Defense Contract Audit Agency and Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements, enabling government contractors to manage contracts with added efficiency and to achieve more profitable project and firmwide financial performance, said Susan O'Dea, Deltek's vice president of the GCS Premier/System1 Product Group.

"Today's release is an essential step forward in Deltek's mission to deliver the most streamlined and fully compliant government financial management solution available," O'Dea said.Many of the first customers for the accounting solution are likely to be among the nearly 1,200 users of Deltek's original DOS-based System1 solution for government contractors, she said.OTG Software Inc., which provides online data storage management and data access solutions to government and business customers, said its DiskXtender software is now certified on StorageTek's Aegis L700 and L180 tape libraries with the 9840 drive.

The Aegis tape libraries are designed for large, distributed open system implementations in Windows NT and Unix environments. "DiskXtender's ability to meet the requirements of enterprise networks for quick data access is demonstrated by its ability to work with the extremely fast accessibility of StorageTek's L700/L180," said Richard Kay, president and chief executive of OTG Software, Bethesda, Md.

The Aegis libraries allow multiple applications to share a large data pool so they can read and write simultaneously. The 9840 tape drive provides the speed, capacity and access needed for high transaction rate applications, such as those supported by application service providers and Internet service providers.

Tom Haapala, product marketing manager at StorageTek, said OTG's successful, two-year original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationship with his company has provided StorageTek customers with advanced technology while protecting their existing storage investments.

OTG's products are available through a network of value-added resellers, distributors and OEMs. StorageTek trades stock on the New York Stock Exchange. Its 1998 revenue was $2.3 billion.
