Kathleen Adams, assistant deputy commissioner for systems at the Social Security Administration, is leaving government service to join SRA International Inc. of Fairfax, Va., as vice president of strategic accounts in the government sector. She will begin her new position Sept. 27.

"The wealth of experience [Adams] brings to SRA will be instrumental to our continued growth in the civil government marketplace," said Renny DiPentima, SRA president for the government sector. He also is a former Social Security official.
Robbins-Gioia Inc., an Alexandria, Va., project management consulting company, has started an online service for customers who do not need a full-blown onsite consulting service. Prices start at $5,000 a year and include 26 hours of consulting. The company opened the online service Aug. 2.

Many smaller customers need a few days' worth of consulting, and it is not cost effective for Robbins-Gioia to put people onsite to do that, said Patricia Davis-Muffett, director of marketing for the company. The typical onsite project can cost more than $200,000.
Mississippi Space Services, a joint venture headed by Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif., won a $325 million contract to provide facility operation services at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. CSC formed the joint venture with IT Group Inc. of Monroeville, Pa. Under the five-year NASA contract, the joint venture will provide design engineering, medical services, safety and mission assurance, ISO compliance, technology-enabled maintenance concepts, acquisitions and facilities maintenance.The submission deadline for the General Services Administration's Metropolitan Area Acquisition for local telephone services in Los Angeles has been extended to Oct. 29. GSA said the delay is due to the area's "geographic scope and technical complexity."
