The company has stood up a new federal health portfolio led by Cognosante President Eliot Harris.

Accenture Federal Services closed its acquisition Monday of Cognosante, finalizing a transaction that they both announced in April.

Cognosante brings to its new home a stable of health IT customers including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Veterans Affairs and Healthcare.gov. The transaction also adds more digital transformation and cloud modernization solutions to Accenture Federal.

With the close of the transaction, Accenture Federal has created a new health portfolio led by Cognosante President Eliot Harris.

As Accenture Federal executives have described to us, the company has pulled together all of the health IT work from its civilian and defense portfolios to create the new health portfolio

The acquisition adds more than 1,500 people to Accenture Federal Services’ more than 14,000-person workforce. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
