Maximus has hired a new leader for its federal IT and consulting portfolio in Scott Barr, a nearly two-decade market veteran and former Booz Allen Hamilton executive.

He will hold the title of senior vice president and focus on broadening Maximus’ technology offerings for federal agencies, the company said Thursday.

Prior to joining Maximus, Barr was president of health IT consultancy Sierra7. He was recruited to that role in 2020 after Sierra7’s acquisition of HMS Technologies, from which he was responsible for managing the business and leading efforts to transform the technology portfolio.

Before Sierra7, Barr spent two decades at Booz Allen with the last five as a partner and senior vice president with a stint as that company’s chief transformation officer.

“To continue our growth at Maximus within our federal sector, we need to further evolve and innovate with our customer and bring the latest technology into government, and Scott has been added to our leadership team to do exactly that,” Maximus’ federal services general manager Teresa Weipert said in a release.
