AWS, VMware cloud specialist makes deal for public sector growth

Managed cloud and professional services provider Effectual has made an acquisition with an assist from private investors to gain a greater public sector footprint that includes key federal contract vehicles.

Effectual said Tuesday it purchased JHC Technology, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business that holds a Premier Consulting Partner designation in the Amazon Web Services network of industry partners.

Terms of the transaction were undisclosed. Effectual made the deal with a new investment by Catalyst Investors and follow-on backing from Lumerity Capital, both of which have reserved $50 million for acquisitions and organic growth initiatives.

Hoboken, New Jersey-based Effectual focuses its services on helping enterprises in their use of both the Amazon Web Services and VMware Cloud on AWS offerings.

Lumerity announced its initial investment in November to support Effectual’s next phase of growth and efforts to enter new markets.

National Harbor, Maryland-based JHC provides technology consulting and other professional services to help customers implement technologies with capabilities in cloud, virtualization, mobility and collaboration.

JHC’s portfolio of federal contract vehicles includes Navy Seaport-NxG, the SDVOSB track of the National Institutes of Health CIO-SP3 and General Services Administration IT Schedule 70. The company also counts state and local government agencies as clients.

Federal prime obligations to JHC totaled $27.4 million for the government’s most recent fiscal year with approximately 69 percent from the Homeland Security Department, according to USASpending.gov.
