Perspecta's civilian reboot scores $810M State Department IT win

Perspecta has outlined its plan to get the civilian business going again and that has led to a new $810 million State Department IT services win.
Perspecta has won a potential seven-year, $810.5 million task order for enterprise IT support services to the State Department in one of the company’s largest civilian awards since its launch.
Four companies competed for the work that was awarded through the Alliant 2 Unrestricted contract vehicle. The General Services Administration’s FEDSIM acquisition hub signed off on the order Dec. 18, according to Federal Procurement Data System filings.
The Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations task order appears to be a consolidation of five predecessor IT support contracts. Several privately-held companies perform the work and are set to be replaced by Perspecta pending any possible post-award protests, according to Nation Analytics.
For Perspecta, the win of the CAEIO order comes amid efforts to reinvigorate its civilian business and secure large wins like those the defense and intelligence segment has strung together since the company opened for business in June 2018.
In an August earnings call, Perspecta described some of the bids in the company’s civilian pipeline that included one with the State Department. Former AT&T executive Rocky Thurston joined Perspecta earlier this year as head of the civilian, state and local group.
Perspecta secured its role in September on a potential $166 million Senate IT services contract that also represents new work for the company just like CAEIO appears to be.
Services for the CAEIO order support the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ unclassified and classified IT environments. Work includes data center management, network monitoring, systems administration, telecommunications operations, and support for hardware and software applications.
