Cisco promotes Michaelides

Cisco promotes 14-year company veteran Nick Michaelides to lead its U.S. public sector arm.

Cisco said Monday it has promoted 14-year company veteran and its former federal sales lead Nick Michaelides to senior vice president of the company’s U.S. public sector organization.

In that most recent sales role, Michaelides oversaw Cisco’s second-largest market in the Americas region. He succeeds Larry Payne, who retired from the company over the summer after 24 years there and nearly four as U.S. public sector head.

Michaelides’ career at Cisco also includes a stint as senior director for defense operations with responsibility over product and service delivery to the Defense Department.

He takes the helm as Cisco further evolves into a company involved in areas like cloud computing, cyber, analytics and others that span IT infrastructures. Payne described that shift by Cisco in a Top 100 interview with WT two years ago.
