HDS Federal rebrands in big data, analytics push

Hitachi Data Systems Federal has rebranded itself as part of the Reston, Va.-based contractor’s efforts to further push its big data and analytics portfolio across the federal market.

The business now operates as Hitachi Vantara Federal Corp. in alignment with its parent company’s new name of Hitachi Vantara. This rebrand aims to also bring the contractor’s operational technology services into agencies, Hitachi Vantara Federal said Monday.

Hitachi Vantara Federal’s new name is intended to bring together the operations of Hitachi Data Systems, Hitachi Insight Group and Pentaho.

This move comes almost four months after Hitachi Vantara Federal said it agreed to take in the former Brocade Federal’s classified contracts and employees.

At the time, the federal contractor’s CEO David Turner described that transfer to Washington Technology as its most “significant single action we’ve taken” since the business launched in 2013.

Hitachi Vantara Federal will focus on IT applications, analytics, content, cloud and infrastructure services for federal and commercial clients. The business also works on Internet of Things-related projects.

Hitachi Vantara Federal performs classified work under a proxy agreement with the Defense Security Services. The business operates as a standalone, independent entity with its own leadership and board of directors.
