Boeing wins $17.7 contract mod for precision laser guidance sets

Contract is for combined purchase through Foreign Military Sales program

Boeing Co. has won a $17.7 million contract modification to produce 1,496 precision laser guidance sets for the Navy, Air Force, and the governments of Saudi Arabia and Japan.

This contract combines purchases by the Navy and Air Force with purchases by Saudi Arabia and Japan under the Foreign Military Sales program, the Defense Department said in an announcement.

Saudi Arabia purchased the most, accounting for 38 percent, or $6.7 million, followed by the U.S. Navy, accounting for 31 percent, or $5.6 million.

The U.S. Air Force accounted for 29 percent, or $5 million of , with Japan closing out with 2 percent, or $376,000 of the total value.

Funding in the full amount of the contract value will be obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2013.

Work is expected to be completed by February 2015, and will take place in St. Charles, Mo.
