There's more to big data than just social media

Through an interview it had with HP Autonomy, Cloud Pro learned that big data isn't all about social media; in fact, it has some time-saving company communication applications.

Big data isn’t just about Twitter and Facebook; it’s also about intra-company communication, according to Cloud Pro. The idea behind intra-company big data is, as Cloud Pro reported, to stop re-inventing the wheel. If something has already been sufficiently done, there’s no need to do it all over again.

Cloud Pro received a real-life example of this kind of big data usage through an interview it had with HP Autonomy’s Gary Parker, who was said to have described how an aerospace company had saved large amounts of time and money by using big data to source some wind tunnel research.
