On the edge

Power packed into a dot

A new wireless tracking and sensing technology called The Enterprise Dot is now available from Axcess International Inc., a provider of Dual-Active Radio Frequency Identification and Real Time Location Systems solutions.

Based on a system-on-a-chip design, the technology yields a low-cost and small multifunctional wireless submicro device for delivering visibility-oriented data about the assets operating in and around the enterprise.

Dot facilitates the capture, processing and delivery of previously unavailable real-time information for improvements in supply chain visibility, mobile asset management, physical asset security and access control, and industrial condition monitoring.

Sniff out changes to Windows

A free downloadable software tool is available for tracking and analyzing changes occurring on Microsoft Windows desktop and laptop computers.

The tool from Solidcore Systems Inc. is designed to help information technology administrators quickly troubleshoot Windows application problems by providing rich visualization capabilities that show at a glance what is changing on the system.
The program provides immediate tracking and analysis of file system and registry changes.

It provides clickable pull-down menus that allow users to filter change activity by category, user name and program name. A Change Timeline is the center point of the interface and allows users to zoom into change activity from a monthly view to a real-time view.
