S.C. county taps Manatron for appraisal software

Manatron Inc. won a five-year contract from Horry County, S.C. to provide mass appraisal software and various integration services.

Under the $1.2 million contract, Manatron of Kalamazoo, Mich., install computer-aided mass appraisal software as well as furnish integration services for critical county business processes.

The integration services for the county cover geographic information system, permitting, work order management, and tax billing and collection.

The country, which is located on the eastern seaboard next adjacent to the North Carolina border, has experienced a 37 percent population growth over the past decade. To keep pace with this level of growth, the county embarked on a major program to overhaul all of its critical IT systems, including the 20-year-old computer-aided mass appraisal system.

Manatron is a provider of Web based and client/server application software products for local governments. The company has about 365 employees and had annual revenue of $40.2 million in fiscal 2005, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
