GSA issues RFI for next e-government projects

The Bush administration has taken the first step on the next set of e-government projects with the release of a request for information for three of the line-of-business initiatives.

The General Services Administration, which is acting as the contracting arm to the Office of Management and Budget, issued the RFI seeking ideas on how government can better integrate the systems and services that support financial, grants and human resources management.

Vendors have until May 15 to describe systems and implementation approaches for each of the three areas. GSA will hold an industry day Wednesday in Washington to discuss the RFI.

GSA this summer also plans to issue an RFI for case management, which, along with a federal health architecture, make up the five components of the line-of-business initiative.

The RFI stated: "The objective of this initiative is to establish common solution and target architecture approaches that identify systems, best practices, migration strategies and key interfaces to develop common business processes and system solutions."

The goal is to prepare business cases for the projects by September and issue requests for proposals late this year.
