Appointments

John Beagley has joined NEC Eluminant Technologies Inc. as senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. An affiliate of NEC Corp., eLUMINANT is an optical access solutions provider to telecommunications carriers. Formerly senior vice president at Optisphere, Beagley will focus on expanding the Chantilly, Va., company's U.S. and international sales infrastructure as well as developing the strategic market positioning of eLUMINANT's traditional and new optical access products within the U.S. telecommunications industry.

DLT Solutions Inc., a Herndon, Va., government solutions partner, named Kerry Marple as vice president of marketing. Marple will be responsible for all strategic marketing initiatives for DLT's divisions.

Verizon Federal Network Systems, an Arlington, Va., network design and implementation solution provider, appointed Tama Chalmers as director of sales and business development. Chalmers will be responsible for building relationships and driving federal sales for Verizon FNS' entire suite of networking and security products and services. Chalmers has more than 20 years of expertise in the government technology sector at Verizon Federal Markets and KPMG's Government Consulting Practice.

Ralph Snyderman, chancellor for Health Affairs at Duke University in Durham, N.C., executive dean of the School of Medicine at Duke, and president and chief executive officer of Duke University Health System, has joined the board of directors of Science Applications International Corp. in San Diego. Snyderman has an extensive knowledge of the health care industry and has served in his present capacity at Duke University since 1989.

Comstor Inc., a Chantilly, Va., channel provider of networking technology products, named William McFadden as vice president of product management and marketing. He will be responsible for the product management and marketing aspects for all products sold by Comstor in the United States. McFadden has more than 20 years of telecommunications management experience, having previously held executive-level positions at Lucent Technologies and AT&T Corp.

Updata Capital Inc., Red Bank, N.J., announced that John MacDonald has joined the firm as a managing director. MacDonald will focus on new business opportunities, developing new markets and continuing advisory efforts for information technology companies. Before joining Updata, MacDonald was a managing director in Lehman Brother's Global Technology Group. The firm also hired Joel Kallett as a partner in its Reston, Va., office. Kallett will be responsible for spearheading Updata's advisory efforts in the financial technology sector. Before joining Updata, Kallett was a director in the Technology Group at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.

Promotions

SiteScape, a Maynard, Mass., provider of collaboration software and hosted services, promoted Heidi Gabrielson to vice president of marketing. Gabrielson, who joined the firm in 1999, was previously director of marketing. In her new role she will oversee planning and implementation of SiteScape's analyst relations, public relations, marketing and advertising programs.
