The Illinois Department of Public Health is planning to release a request for proposals in the first quarter of 2002 for two statewide, hospital-based, Web-enabled, data-collection and dissemination projects.

The department wants to streamline the reporting of birth-related data on 160,000 babies annually to the central office, reduce reporting time, reduce the duplication of reported data elements and decrease potential conflicting information collected in separate reports. The department also seeks to streamline the task for funeral home directors, coroners and other licensed professionals to capture information and issue electronic death certificates for 100,000 Illinoisans annually through use of the Web.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission needs a contractor to assume claims administration and primary care case management network administration responsibilities to support the Texas Medicaid program. The procurement is expected in the third quarter of 2001.

The state will enter into a single contract that will include buying claims administration, including operation, integration and maintenance of the Texas Medicaid Management Information
System; network administration for the case management system; program management; client services; provider relations and monitoring; health services; and performance monitoring, quality assurance and utilization management.

The Washington Department of Social and Health Services is expected to release in the fourth quarter of 2001 an RFP for one or more projected FileMaker Pro database projects.

The department needs to develop a new FileMaker Pro database application and also to update and re-engineer
some older applications. The division is interested in computer analyst and/or developer resources proficient in FileMaker Pro.

These opportunities are compiled by Federal Sources Inc., a market research firm in McLean, Va.
