GTSI Names New Chief Operating Officer

John T. Spotila, a former White House official, was named chief operating officer of GTSI Corp. today, said Dendy Young, chairman and chief executive officer.

Young said the selection was an important step in implementing the company's strategy for sustained future growth. GTSI of Chantilly, Va., provides IT solutions to federal, state and local governments.

At GTSI, Spotilla will direct day-to-day operations, including sales, marketing, shipping and vendor relations. He will also carry the title of executive vice president and serve as GTSI's general counsel.

"I am confident that GTSI will benefit greatly from [Spotila's] leadership skills and expertise," Young said. "He will play a key role in our plans to enhance customer service and promote shareholder value in the coming months."

Spotila most recently served in the Executive Office of the President. As administrator of the Office of Management and Budget's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Spotila coordinated information policy for the Clinton administration. He chaired the Federal CIO Council, helped develop information technology budget policy and worked to implement electronic government initiatives, including a government-wide portal and the increased use of digital signatures, while promoting privacy and information security.

Spotilla served as general counsel at the U.S. Small Business Administration before going to the White House in 1998.

"I look forward to helping GTSI further strengthen and streamline its operations," Spotila said. "Working together, we plan to set a standard of excellence and then to meet it in all areas."
