Maximus Completes Work on Michigan Automated Child Support

By William Welsh, Staff Writer

OCT. 24 ? Maximus Inc. announced Oct. 23 it has completed a contract for the Third Circuit Court of Michigan that brings its child support operations into compliance with federal regulations.

McLean, Va.-based Maximus assisted in building an automated child support payment distribution system for the Third Circuit Court during a nine-month period from February to September 2000.

During that time, the Third Circuit Court amended the base contract and increased its value from $1.4 million to $5 million, said Maximus.

As part of the revised contract, Maximus brought the Third Circuit's "Friend of the Court" operations into compliance with federal regulations. To do this, Maximus modified the existing distribution system for child support payments. The Friend of the Court office is a division of the circuit court that handles child support payments.

These modifications were essential for Michigan and Wayne County, where the Third Circuit is located, to continue to receive federal funding, said Maximus.

"Our unique expertise in the design of federally compliant systems, as well as the satisfaction of the Third Circuit with our efforts, were directly responsible for this contract expansion," said David Mastran, Maximus president and chief executive officer.

Maximus provides state and local governments with program management, information technology and consulting services. The company has about 4,100 employees located in more than 130 offices throughout the United States.
