PWC Taps Webb for State and Local Gov't Practice

By Steve LeSueur, Editor

JULY 21 ? Rick Webb, North Carolina's high-profile chief information officer, is joining PricewaterhouseCoopers' state and local government consulting practice, the company announced.

Webb has been appointed a managing director, with responsibility for e-government, and will be helping the company's state and local customers use the Internet to improve operations and services.

Webb has served as North Carolina's CIO for the past three years, and has helped lead the state's e-government efforts. In June, the state unveiled its NC@YourService portal that serves as a gateway into the state government for citizens, businesses and state employees. Andersen Consulting of Chicago is serving as the main contractor for that project.

With Webb's help, North Carolina also negotiated an innovative agreement with the state's telecommunications companies aimed at providing high-speed, advanced Internet access to every North Carolina citizen within three years.

"During his tenure as North Carolina's CIO, Rick Webb emerged as a national leader in information technology," said Hank Cooper, who manages the state and local government consulting practice for New York-based PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Before serving as North Carolina's CIO, Webb was president of the North Carolina Partnership for Economic Development.
