Department of Defense
Hughes Aircraft Co., Reston, Va., has entered into a $13.1 million agreement with the U.S. Air Force to modernize and upgrade the operations of the U.S. Air Force Combat Climatology Center. The three-phase, two-and-a-half year modernization program calls for the replacement of the aging mainframe computers at Scott Air Force Base, Bellevue, Neb., and the Asheville, N.C., operations.


General Government
Unisys Corp., McLean, Va., announced that its federal systems division has received two subcontracts from the Defense Information Systems Agency on different programs with a potential total value of $45 million. Unisys will be providing software and services support on each contract. The subcontracts were received from Raytheon Electric Systems and Validity Corp.

Other
Telephonics Corp., Farmingdale, N.Y., announced that it has developed and is marketing an air defense training simulator for international customers. This simulator will be used to train weapons controllers in the proper operation of air defense command and control consoles and in controlling intercepting aircraft operations.

The company also announced that it has received two contracts totaling over $4 million to supply APS-143 Maritime Surveillance Radars to the Ecuador government. The first contract was issued by Commuter Air Technology for installation of the radar on board two CATPASS 250 Aero Maritime Patrol Aircraft. The second contract was issued by the Ecuador government and covers a third radar, installation kit, spare parts and support for the CATPASS program. The government will use the surveillance radar for counter narcotics and counter contraband detection activities.
