Harris Corp., Melbourne, Fla., elected Phillip W. Farmer to take the posts of chairman of the board and chief executive officer in addition to his job as president and COO. Farmer will succeed John T. Hartley, who is retiring June 30. Farmer has been with the company 13 years. The company logs more than $3.3 billion in sales worldwide annually, in electronic systems, semiconductors, communications, and its Lanier office systems unit.

Dallas-based Texas Instruments' Personal Productivity Products business named Steve J. Lair a vice president and executive director for Mobile Computing Products. He joins TI with more than 25 years of industry experience, primarily in the marketing field.

Vienna, Va.-based Space Applications Corp. named Steven R. Mast vice president and chief financial officer. He has worked 10 years for Coopers & Lybrand.

Computer Data Systems, Inc., Rockville, Md., named Mary Ann Mayhew executive vice president for business development. She had been executive vice president of contracts and legal services at CDSI.

Reston, Va.-based Spot Image Corp. has named Suzy Brynes account manager.

Austin, Texas-based Haystack Labs Inc. has appointed Kelly Collins, formerly of Oracle Corp., federal government sales representative.

Steven Carey has been named director of sales and marketing at Falls Church, Va.-based Innovative Business Technology Inc.

ASIC International, Bowie, Md., named Paul Kuhn senior member of its technical staff. Kuhn has worked for Siemens Medical Systems, Martin Marietta, and Tseng Labs.

Erana Leiken will take the job of marketing director at Johnson Design Group, Falls Church, Va., which is offering Internet home page design services.

Larry D. Silver has been promoted to director of government sales for Gaithersburg, Md.-based Saber Software Corp.

Information Systems and Networks, Bethesda, Md., has hired on Kenneth L. Aubrey as manager of human resources. Aubrey has spent 25 years as a U.S. Army recruiter, and performed two tours of duty in Vietnam, one of them as a medic.

Mesa, Ariz.-based ATCi has realigned its international sales department and appointed Jonas Plitt director of European sales and Jeff Sutherlin director of Asian sales.
