Top execs lead WT space event

Executives from five of the market's biggest companies will be on hand for the Aug. 8 WT Power Breakfast to discuss their strategies for the growing space market.

Executives from some of the market's biggest companies will be on hand to discuss why the space sector is a hot market and new opportunities there.

At our Aug. 8 Washington Technology Power Breakfast, we’ll have executives from Parsons, Leidos, SAIC, Peraton and IBM. These companies are not newcomers to the space market in fact Parsons and IBM have legacies that stretch back decades.

From Parsons, we’ll have Chief Operating Officer Carey Smith to open the day with a Q&A keynote. She and I will talk about Parsons' strategy in recent years. Parsons went public in May and also has been an active acquirer with space-related companies as frequent targets.

Space is a big bucket of course, so what does that market mean for Parsons?

Sam Gordy, general manager of IBM U.S. Federal, will face a similar set of questions as he talks about where IBM is headed and why it has kept its hands in the space market.

We’ll also have a panel featuring Dean Bellamy, senior director of space strategies for Peraton; Julia Gibbons, vice president of business development for SAIC; and Keith Johnson, chief technology for the intelligence group at Leidos. They’ll talk strategy as well on their panel.

That’s five executives all who see space as important growth drivers for their companies. Obviously, this is a great opportunity to learn more about this sector of the market.

To add a different perspective, we’ll also feature a panel of market experts -- Carissa Bryce Christensen, CEO of Bryce Space and Technology; and Roman Schweizer, manager director of Cowen and Co.'s Washington Research Group.

They look at multiple facets of the space market, so they’ll share what they are seeing and what they think is driving opportunities for government contractors.

This Power Breakfast is a great opportunity to learn about this part of the market, see where you might play and how you stack up against your competitors.
