Lockheed Martin appoints new head of international business

Lockheed Martin has named John Rood senior vice president of Lockheed Martin International, effective March 7.

Rood succeeds Pat Dewar, who has been appointed senior vice president, International Strategic Initiatives. Dewar will retire in August 2016, Lockheed said in a release.

In his new position, Rood will lead the organization responsible for facilitating all international customer engagements and government relations.

Rood is currently vice president of Lockheed Martin Government Affairs, where he oversees business development and government relations activities conducted by customer focus teams at 26 field offices within the United States.

Before joining the company in 2014, Rood served in a number of government positions within the State Department, Defense Department, Central Intelligence Agency, as well as serving as a special assistant to former president George W. Bush on the National Security Council.
