SAIC wraps up purchase of public services consultancy

Science Applications International Corp. has completed its acquisition of R.W. Beck Group Inc., a provider of engineering, energy and infrastructure consulting services.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not reported.

R.W. Beck, of Seattle, serves public and private infrastructure organizations and financiers in the energy, water, wastewater and solid waste industries. The company’s customers include government entities, utility organizations, financial institutions and others, SAIC officials said.

The acquisition includes Beck Disaster Recovery Inc., an emergency management consultancy, they said.

BDR provides hazards mitigation, preparedness and planning, response, recovery and reconstruction services. The company also provides continuity and emergency operations planning; risk management and mitigation; and training services to local and state government agencies nationwide.

R.W. Beck’s 670 employees will join SAIC’s Infrastructure, Logistics and Product Solutions Group led by Group President Joe Craver. The group provides integrated solutions for a variety of customers across energy, environment, homeland security and logistics markets.

R.W. Beck’s core consulting and engineering organization will join the group’s Energy, Environment and Infrastructure business unit.

BDR will be incorporated into the group’s Homeland Protection and Preparedness unit to create a comprehensive offering of preparedness, emergency response, training and disaster recovery for federal and municipal customers.
