ICF helps EPA with environmental risk assessments

ICF will also review research and develop documentation to assess EPA’s National Ambient Air Quality Standards and will develop software and documentation for risk assessment databases and computer tools.ICF Inc. is a subsidiary of ICF International Inc., of Fairfax, Va., which ranks on Washington Technology’s of the largest federal government prime contractors.

ICF Inc. will assist the Environmental Protection Agency with risk assessment technology under a five-year contract that has a ceiling of $21 million.

The award calls for ICF to work with EPA’s National Center for Environmental Assessment, which is the agency’s resource center for human health and ecological risk assessments. It also serves as a link to the agency’s research and regulatory functions.

Under the contract, ICF will support the center’s efforts to conduct risk assessments on chemicals, chemical mixtures, microorganisms and other environmental stressors. As part of that support, ICF will help the center develop state-of-the-art methods, models, databases and guidance documents for human health risk assessments.

Specific tasks include:

  • Analyzing toxicological data.
  • Evaluating human exposures.
  • Conducting statistical analyses and modeling.
  • Conducting risk assessment studies.
