Cubic completes Omega buy

Cubic Corp. is expanding its defense training services through the acquisition of Omega Training Group Inc.

Cubic Corp. has closed its acquisition of Omega Training Group Inc., a provider of training and other services to the Army.

The acquisition will expand and enhance Cubic's defense training business and increase its visibility with Army customers, Cubic officials said.

Omega, based in Columbus, Ga., supplies training, testing, analysis, logistics and staffing services to the Army. It has 790 employees worldwide. The company supports Army training operations at Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Bliss and Fort Hood, Texas; and Fort Jackson, S.C.

Omega, which will continue to do business under its own name, will become part of Cubic's Mission Support business Unit, Cubic officials said.

Ray Kaufman and Roger Hewitt, the co-founders of Omega, will remain with the company. Glenn Marsh, a former Army lieutenant general, will serve as its vice president and general manager.

Cubic ranks No. 80 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
