Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will continue to support the E-ZPass electronic toll system for the state of New York under a new 10-year contract worth more than $500 million.

Under the agreement, Dallas-based ACS will continue to provide customer service for the E-ZPass system used by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bridges and Tunnels, New York State Thruway Authority, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The company operates eight walk-in customer service centers throughout the state, a call center in Spring Valley, N.Y., and a call center and main processing center in Staten Island, N.Y. Altogether, the company services more than 3.2 million account holders and has issued 9.7 million transponders.

The company first deployed the E-ZPass system in 1993 for the New York Thruway Authority. That work expanded to the MTA and Port Authority in subsequent years.

ACS ranks No. 58 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
