Forsythe grabs Information Security Technology

Forsythe Solutions Group Inc. has acquired Information Security Technology Inc., a provider of information security solutions.

Forsythe Solutions Group Inc. has acquired Information Security Technology Inc., a provider of information security solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Forsythe, based in Skokie, Ill., made the acquisition to expand its scope of information security offerings and capabilities. The acquisition boosts its presence in the north central Midwest and also introduces it to the Canadian market for information technology infrastructure solutions.

The IST acquisition "further enhances Forsythe's information security capabilities and strengthens the full complement of IT infrastructure offerings we provide to our customers," said William Brennan, Forsythe's president.

The company serves commercial and public-sector customers. Its federal unit, Rockville, Md.-based Forsythe Federal Solutions Corp., has contracts with the Air Force, Navy and Defense Department.

IST will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Forsythe. Dave Gustafson will continue as IST's president and chief executive officer and also become vice president of security solutions for Forsythe.

IST supplies holistic information security solutions to the commercial, nonprofit and government sectors. Its professional staff helps customers implement security policies, technologies and solutions. IST partners with and handles integration for a number of technology manufacturers, including Check Point, Cisco Systems, McAfee, Nokia, RSA/EMC and Secure Computing.

The acquisition is the company's third in five years. Previous acquisitions were National Business Group Inc, an Atlanta-based network security solutions provider, and Chicago-based Telenisus, a provider of security services.

With the acquisition of IST, Forsythe now has 800 employees at 44 locations in the United States and Canada.
