Census taps Apogen for computer-assisted interviewing

Apogen Technologies Inc. won the Field Operations Authoring Support contract from Commerce Department to help census takers with computer-assisted interviewing systems.

Apogen Technologies Inc. won the Field Operations Authoring Support contract from Commerce Department to help census takers with computer-assisted interviewing systems.

Apogen won the $6.8 million contract to provide programming tools used in development of computer-assisted interviewing systems that enable the Census Bureau to conduct research for multiple federal agencies.

Under the contract, the company will provide the programming tools Blaise and CASES and provide support and consultation services to the Census Bureau's Technology Management Office.

Agencies receiving the research support include the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Health Resources and Services Administration, Justice Department and others.

Apogen will programming and write surveys with Blaise and CASES for paper and pencil interviews, computer-assisted interviews and Web-based, computer-assisted telephone interviews. The re-compete contract has a base value of $953,881 with eight one-year options.

Apogen Technologies' work with the Census Bureau has produced more than 30 task orders with a combined value of more than $35 million since 1999.

Apogen Technologies, ranks No. 51 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT prime contractors.
