Former Transportation Security Administration CIO David Zeppieri joined Project Performance Corp., McLean, Va., as strategic development director. Zeppieri will lead the company's systems integration practice. Ivette Grainer-Smith, vice president and enterprise solutions director at Project Performance, was named to co-chair the Industry Advisory Council's professional development program for government and industry executives.
Manville Chan joined Cornet Technology Communications, a division of Cornet Technology Inc., Springfield, Va., as program manager for the newly created embedded-systems product line. Manville most recently was senior business analyst and marketing manager at Cybertrust Inc.
Karen Degner joined Guident Technologies Inc., Herndon, Va., as vice president of business development, responsible for the company's federal government business unit. Degner most recently was public sector professional services director at Business Objects America Inc.
Fred Richards joined Jinfonet Software Inc., Rockville, Md., as vice president of marketing. Richards most recently was senior director of global marketing programs at MicroStrategy Inc.
Kara Calvert, Ryan Peebles and Heather Smith joined the government relations department of the Information Technology Industry Council in Washington. Calvert, who will be director for workplace and
e-commerce issues, is a former legislative assistant in the office of Sen. Michael Enzi (R-Wyo.). Peebles, who will be director for tax issues, was senior manager for legislative affairs for the National Federation of Independent Business. Smith, who will be an associate providing legislative support, most recently was a legislative correspondent for Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).
Five new staffers joined product management, logistics and technical support teams at Böwe Bell Howell Scanners, Wheeling, Ill. New hires are: ZhaoMin as product specialist, formerly manager at the Beijing Founder Order Computer Co.; Stacy Sax as product manager, formerly marketing manager at Cole Parmer Inc.; Steven Pawlowski as systems test engineer, formerly research and development software engineer at Spartanics Ltd.; Christian Castro as senior electronic technician, formerly electronic engineer at Bodine Electric Co.; Karen Firak as logistics coordinator, formerly logistics manager at Standard Rubber Products Co. Promoted were Sean Parnell to lead product management, and Edward Sarkis to Tech 2 technician.
David Aldrich was named senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., McLean, Va. Aldrich leads the company's civil government work.
James Scullion was named CEO and chairman of the board of directors at Tumbleweed Communications Corp., Redwood City, Calif., replacing Craig Brennan, who has retired. Scullion most recently was CEO of ComnetiX Inc.
Mary Alice Johnson, Nancy Lorinda Greene and Linda Martin joined public sector marketing agency ConnellyWorks Inc., Fairfax, Va. A senior account manager, Johnson was most recently a public affairs specialist at the General Services Administration. Also a senior account manager, Greene was a marketing specialist for Lockheed Martin Corp.'s IT division.
