Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) has appointed Diane Wallace to lead the state's Department of Information Technology and serve as chief information officer, the governor's office announced this week.

Wallace has held top-level technology positions in the private sector. She previously was vice president of information technology with CNA Financial Corp. of Chicago. Before that, she served as CIO for Aetna Inc. of Hartford, Conn.

Wallace was selected following a national search. She will earn $145,000 annually. She succeeds Rock Regan, who resigned last year after serving seven years in the position.

The Connecticut Department of Information Technology, which is located in East Hartford, has more than 300 employees and an annual budget of about $90 million.
