Washington state taps CNSI for Medicaid

Client Network Services Inc. has won a $180 million contract from the Washington Department of Social and Health Services for a Medicaid management information system.

Client Network Services Inc. has won an eight-year, $180 million contract from the Washington Department of Social and Health Services' Medical Assistance Administration to provide a Medicaid management information system, the company announced last week.

Under the contract, CNSI of Rockville, Md., will develop and maintain a new Medicaid management information system that will replace a system that dates back to 1982.

The system will improve reporting capabilities, enhance flexibility of data storage and mapping, improve user access and integrate certain business functions, the company said.

The enhancements will let the state collect and manage data more efficiently and use scarce resources more effectively. The new system will handle upwards of $70 million a week in Medicaid billings and payments.

In addition to Washington state, CNSI also is implementing a new Medicaid management information system for Maine.
