Raytheon nabs Iraq air traffic contract
Raytheon Co. has won a $10.5 million contract to supply air traffic management systems for airports in Iraq.
Raytheon Co. has won a $10.5 million contract to supply air traffic management systems for airports in Iraq, the company announced this week. Raytheon would not identify the agency or company that awarded the contract.
Raytheon of Waltham, Mass., will restore all-weather air traffic control capability to the key commercial airports in Iraq and reestablish the infrastructure needed for Iraq to rejoin the international air traffic community.
To meet these objectives, Raytheon will supply navigation and landing aids, airfield lighting, airport meteorological equipment as well as solid-state, digital terminal area surveillance radars and Raytheon Auto Trac II air traffic management systems.
The purchase of additional equipment options could raise the contract value to $38.9 million, the company said.
A number of other Middle Eastern countries also rely on Raytheon for air traffic management systems, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
Raytheon, has more than 76,000 employees and annual sales of $16.8 billion. The company was ranked No. 6 on Washington Technology's Top 100 list
