National alliance to deliver 511 services
Four companies have formed an alliance to provide 511 traveler information telephone services to state and local agencies.
The companies are part of the 511 Deployment Coalition, a consortium of government agencies and private companies working to bring 511 services to state and local governments. The coalition is sponsored by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, American Public Transportation Association, Intelligent Transportation Society of America and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Four companies have formed an alliance to provide 511 traveler information telephone services to state and local agencies, the companies announced today.
Alliance members are PBS&J Inc., Miami; SRS/Westwood One Inc., New York; Tele Atlas Inc., Menlo Park, Calif.; and Meteorlogix, Minneapolis.
They will offer content, integration of existing intelligent transportation services and project management capabilities, the companies said.
The alliance seeks to capitalize on the desire of state and local governments to implement toll-free phone services, similar to 911, that would provide local traffic information.
