AT&T taps new fed leader

AT&T Corp., New York, appointed Christopher Rooney to lead the telecom giant's communications and professional services business in the federal market. Rooney succeeds Larry Spilman, who is retiring after 30 years with AT&T.

AT&T Corp., New York, appointed Christopher Rooney to lead the telecom giant's communications and professional services business in the federal market. Rooney succeeds Larry Spilman, who is retiring after 30 years with AT&T.

Rooney was chief executive officer of Priority Telecom, an Amsterdam-based communications company that provides business network services in metropolitan markets in the Netherlands, Austria and Norway.

He also was president of the former Global One joint venture between Deutsche Telecom, France Telecom and Sprint Corp. Earlier, he formed and managed Sprint's business operations division that provided order processing, installation, customer service and repair for business customers, and he led marketing, sales and operations in Sprint's government markets organization.
