EDS wins Kansas work

Electronic Data Systems Corp. was awarded a $160 million contract with Kansas to operate the state's Medicaid management information system.

The Plano, Texas, company will operate Kansas' legacy-based system while installing EDS' interChange MMIS system. EDS also will handle managed care enrollment for the children's health insurance program and Medicaid.

The new system features a Web-based interface that makes processing claims more efficient. More than 200,000 Kansas residents use the Medicaid program.
