Maximus board elects new chair & co-vice chair

Maximus' long-time board leader is retiring from the position and his fellow panel members have elected both a successor and co-vice chair.

Maximus said Friday that Peter Pond, chair of the company’s board of directors, has retired from the role after 24 years on the panel and 20 as its leader.

The board has in turn elected outgoing Willis Watson Towers CEO John Haley to succeed Pond as chair and Anne Altman to be co-vice chair alongside Richard Montoni, who was Maximus’ CEO from 2006 to 2018.

Haley has led Willis Towers Watson since 2016 and was previously a Maximus board member between 2002 and 2019, then subsequently rejoined in 2020. He plans to retire from Willis Towers Watson at the end of this year.

Reston, Virginia-headquartered Maximus said its eight-member board consists of six independent directors and four that self-identify as a woman or person of color.
