Parsons details CEO succession plan
Parsons Corp.'s leader for the past 13 years will step back from the CEO role and the company has identified his successor from within its ranks.
Parsons Corp. CEO Chuck Harrington will step back from that role on July 1 and be succeeded by Carey Smith, president and chief operating officer.
Harrington will continue to serve as executive chairman of the board of directors, Parsons said Tuesday.
A four-decade Parsons veteran, Harrington has led the company since 2008 in a tenure highlighted by its return to the public markets in 2019.
Parsons undertook that initial public offering amid its multi-year shift from being predominantly an engineering-and-construction company to also being a technology integrator for many defense and intelligence agencies.
More recently, Parsons laid out its new three-year growth blueprint at a March investor day and where the company sees its best avenues for expansion.
Smith joined Parsons in 2016 as president of its federal solutions business and was promoted to COO two years later. Earlier this year, she joined the board of directors and was given the additional title of president.
